I created Gaseous Light for my second trip to Burning Man in 2002. On our initial foray to the playa in 2001, we brought this gas nozzle & hose, which one of my campmates found on the side of the road. We had grand intentions of making an impromptu sculpture out of it; needless to say, the filler hose remained in its large garbage bag (the gasoline stench was over-powering). Six months later, I dreamt up this weird, visual horn with musical notes and waves coming out of the pump handle. (No clue as to what inspired this concept). Gaseous Light plays a soundtrack of esoteric tracks as it sways and dances while dangling from a flexible plastic pipe. Photo credit: Mike Woolson.
